For the purposes of Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), ScrubHub is the data controller of the personal data described in this Privacy Policy unless stated otherwise.
2. What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through ScrubHub, why we use it, how long we keep it, with whom we share it, and what rights you have under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and other applicable laws.
3. Data we collect
We may collect the following categories of personal data:
Account and identity data
- phone number;
- first name and surname;
- profile role (Customer or Cleaner).
Location and booking data
- saved addresses and address labels;
- map coordinates;
- home/service location details;
- search radius settings;
- booking date, time, package, and notes.
Payment and financial data
- payment status, payment provider reference IDs, refund status, and related payment metadata;
- payout-related details such as mobile money wallet numbers and networks provided by Cleaners.
Communications data
- support or problem reports you submit;
- notification tokens used to send push notifications.
Technical and usage data
- device and app identifiers needed for authentication, messaging, fraud prevention, debugging, and service improvement;
- logs related to requests, payments, and notifications.
4. How we collect data
We collect data:
- directly from you when you create an account, add locations, book services, or update your profile;
- automatically from your device and app usage;
- from integrated service providers such as payment, mapping, messaging, and authentication providers.
5. Why we use your data
We use personal data to:
- create and manage user accounts;
- enable booking, matching, payment, payout, messaging, and support workflows;
- display relevant cleaning requests or booking information;
- authenticate users and prevent fraud or misuse;
- send reminders and service notifications;
- handle cancellations, refunds, complaints, and operational records;
- comply with legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations;
- improve the reliability and security of the Platform.
6. Legal bases under the Data Protection Act
We process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases:
- performance of a contract or steps prior to entering into a contract;
- compliance with legal obligations;
- our legitimate interests, such as platform security, fraud prevention, operational logging, and service improvement;
- your consent, where consent is required by law.
7. Who we share data with
We may share personal data with:
- Customers and Cleaners, where necessary to perform a booking;
- our payment provider, MojoPay, for mobile money checkout and Cleaner payouts;
- Google and Firebase services, including authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, messaging, app-integrity (App Check), logging infrastructure, and Google Maps services;
- hosting, infrastructure, support, or security vendors acting on our instructions;
- advisers, auditors, insurers, regulators, courts, or public authorities where required.
We do not sell your personal data.
8. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside Ghana. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and any other applicable law.
9. Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to:
- maintain accounts and booking records;
- handle complaints, disputes, fraud prevention, and refunds;
- comply with accounting, tax, and legal retention obligations.
Retention periods may differ by data type. We may retain limited records for longer where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
- access your personal data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- request deletion of data;
- restrict processing;
- object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format where applicable;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana or another competent supervisory authority.

11. Location data
We use location data and map coordinates to:
- save Customer service locations;
- save Cleaner home locations;
- show relevant nearby jobs or availability;
- support booking and navigation-related functionality.
If you do not provide precise location data, some core app features may not work correctly.
12. Payment data
Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider, MojoPay, using its secure hosted checkout. We store limited payment-related metadata necessary to manage bookings, confirmations, refunds, reconciliation, and support. We do not store full payment card or mobile money account credentials; these are entered directly on MojoPay's secure checkout and are not visible to the app.
13. Communications and notifications
We use push notifications and authentication (one-time passcode) messages to operate the service. These may include:
- booking acceptance messages;
- arrival and start updates;
- completion and review reminders;
- cancellation notices;
- refund updates.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Children
ScrubHub is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be made available in the app and at this page, together with the effective version date.
